Hi guys. I'm really sorry about being so touch and go recently. Once I get actual wireless in my aparment instead of ghetto jacking from the neighbors that seems to only really work in one spot, things will improve immensely.

That being said, I do have some hard news. I think I'm going to have to drop Aidan. I just don't have time for both of them and he's definitely a weak muse right now and I feel bad just having him hang around...If things improve for me and him in the next little while and no one's gone and picked him up, I'll consider taking him back into the game, but for right now, I think it's for the best.

Peace and quiet. After the news about You-Know-Who splashed the front page of the Prophet, they were two elusive, bordering fictitious concepts. The kind of thing you read about in books set in libraries or, well, something. In the corridors, out on the Grounds, inside the owlery, outside the owlery, everywhere -- there were murmurs. There was fear. And sometimes, Charlie sensed something worse than fear: satisfaction from it all.

Charlie was amazed that, of all the places inside Hogwarts, his dormitory was the one place he found empty and still. There was an unchanged quality to it. His bed was still unmade, sheets in a disarray, a grass-stained sock of his was still hanging off Kirley's chair. There were a whole litter of messes no one could be bothered to pick up, still there. Still unaffected. He could have fallen asleep, woken up again, and thought he had imagined it all. Dreamed it.

It would be nice if he could. He could go back to thinking Quidditch was the second most important thing in the world, right beneath dragons and everything Hagrid had to tell him about magical beasts that Professor Kettleburn could only show them poor quality photographs of.

Now, now those things almost didn't even matter anymore.

Collapsing across his four poster in a sprawl, Charlie closed his eyes and buried his face in a pillow.

Meaghan was in a bad mood, and had been since she and Kirley returned from the holidays... and since everyone else returned as well, but who gave a crap about them? She didn't understand why they were there. Mum hadn't let them go out nearly at all during the holidays, and every day Meaghan had expected her to tell them to pack up, they were heading for Barbados or Australia or Fiji or someplace else that was safe, and, preferably, warm. But she hadn't, even after the New Year's Eve attack, and instead of kicking around on the beach somewhere Meaghan and Kirley were now sitting at table eating breakfast about a month after they should've been safely out of the country.

Well, Meaghan was. Kirley was still in the dorms, and would probably be sleeping until lunch. The point was that they'd been sent back to school without any indication of when or if they'd be pulled out, and the constant waiting was making her both antsy and extremely irritable. Besides, she had to be in classes with Tonks. How could you concentrate on lessons when someone who'd been kidnapped and nearly killed was sitting there? She was probably putting the rest of them in danger every second! Also, she had stupid hair.

She pushed her eggs around her plate moodily as the owls came in with the morning Prophets and whatever other papers and things people there subscribed to. This was all just a huge bloody waste of time, she thought. What was Mum waiting for?

Okay, so it's pretty definite at this point that the McCormacks are leaving - Catriona has means and money and no intention of leaving her kids in a dangerous spot. But I wanted to know if anyone wanted to thread with Meaghan before that, or packing up or something because goodness knows there won't be a lot of opportunities after that.

Reports flooded into the Department of Magical Law Enforcement this afternoon stating that He Who Must Not Be Named was spotted in Scotland, near the outskirts of Edinburgh, along with an unknown number of his followers.

While these reports have not yet been verified by the Auror Department, there has not been any denial from Head Auror Rufus Scrimgeour either. Until the sighting has been confirmed, witches and wizards are 'strongly precautioned' to keep to their homes and not go out after dark unless absolutely necessary.

You-Know-Who has not been seen in the United Kingdom or Ireland since 1979, when he and his followers were driven out of the country. The Dark Mark had not been seen as well up until New Years Eve, when it was spotted above Muggle monument Big Ben. A number of Muggles were killed in that attack, and though none have been confirmed, the number of reports of Dark Mark sightings have sky-rocketed over the past three weeks.

Boredom and monotony do not sit well with me. And life has become just that here lately. Boring and monotonous.

You never could tell what the professorial powers of Hogwarts would decide was worth forcing on people, and what they would simply announce, as if it was an option like any other option, Herman reflected. Self defense class for those willing to give up an evening, as if the time commitment were the only issue any student might consider.

Of course, the word around the Slytherin dorms was that self defense for dummies wasn't something any self respecting Slytherin student would consider attending, but Herman had an answer for that. How else to properly make fun of evaluate the quality of the class, but by attending?

The excuse seemed to pass muster, though the mood around Slytherin since the students returned from Christmas hols was so sullen it was hard to really tell what anyone was thinking. And so Herman found himself at the back of the room, arms crossed and a skeptical expression on his face as he listened to how to identify an emergency situation. The actions advised seemed to be the coward's way out; distract and run, did they think they were talking to incompetents? This was the sixth and seventh year session, couldn't they come up with--

Herman was distracted from his thoughts by a sudden change in method. "Find a partner and practice faking them out," the professor said. "All you need is a moment, anything surprising will do..."

If he'd known it was going to come to that, Herman would have payed more attention to who he was sitting next to. As it was, he turned to his neighbor and raised an eyebrow. "Well?" he asked.

Alright, here is the post where I say that I'm going on hiatus for a week or so.

We all know that's about as true as me saying the sky is purple, but whatever.

Deal is, I'm moving tomorrow to my apartment up by school. My apartment which at the moment is severly lacking in the cable and internet area of life. This has not stopped me before and I highly doubt it will seriously stop me now.

The plan is to meet with cable/interent next week sometime. In the meantime there is a coffeeshop a few blocks away which has WiFi and also campus which I can access. Granted, this will sucessfully limit my nettime, but I promise I WILL return and be back in the full swing of things as soon as I'm able to!
