Aidan is a fine upstanding bloke. Well…most times. He is 16 after all, but he’s also got 8 sisters. He’s not all too pleased about that bit, but really, what can you do? Can’t trade ‘em…Mum get’s mad about that bit and you can’t sell ‘em, cause how do you tell a lass with a great left hook that you’re only going to get about 10 pounds for her cause she’s messy as hell in the loo? You don’t. You don’t want to be the one to tell her that because then the others with all their hidden sisterly strength attack you and you end up curled up in a ball in the corner of the sitting room, getting yelled at by your mum and pitied by your Da and no one’s doing anything about the bleeding wounds you’ve just sustained! Not that he’s speaking from personal experience of course, but you get the idea.

He’s a bit of a smartarse, really, but he’s really a very sweet bloke most of the time and even his smart comments are never particularly mean. Unless you’re his family and you already know he’s only teasing.

He’d give anything to keep his sisters happy, mainly because he loves them and partly because happy sisters make for a happily unharmed Aidan.

Music is Aidan’s gift. He’s got a sweet voice and uses it to get lasses to fall for him. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to hold a girlfriend and refuses to believe that it has anything to do with the fact that Orla is never too fond of them.

He’s a lot like his father in a lot of ways, though he doesn’t at all see this as a bad thing. Far as he can tell, his Da is just about the greatest bloke there is and he’s at all like him, then he’ll have a blessed life.

He’s pretty laid back, and has decent control of his temper, for the most part, though if you do get him angry, you’d best watch yourself as he’s not exactly the weakest bloke in the world. He’s quick as hell on his feet and he can do some serious damage. I wouldn’t go after one of his sisters, least of all Orla for that very reason, because as far as they’re concerned, he’s a bit of a maniac.

Appearance: He’s a tall bloke, standing roughly at 6’ 4”. Pretty well toned because of the work he does over the summer as well as Quidditch. He weighs in at about 185lbs. He’s black Irish so he’s got dark features. Dark hair and eyes and skin which tans easily. His hair is pretty shaggy and long because he doesn’t bother to cut it during the school year, but over the summer, he usually keeps it pretty short. He does have a scar on the back of his shin from an unfortunate tractor incident.

Desired PB: Please include your desired PB here, as well as at least two alternatives with sample icons. PBs must be canon- and age-appropriate. John Amedori and I don’t have any backups because I’m crazy.

History: Must be at least three paragraphs, but not so detailed that I'm bored to tears reading a detailed analysis on what their favorite color was when they were two and why. Keep it simple.

Born as the fourth child and first son to Beatrice and Patrick, Aidan Kiely was soon followed by the fifth child and fourth daughter, Orla. Aidan would quickly learn that this was how he was to live his whole life; with Orla just behind him. He didn’t mind so much the first year or so, but then again, this was also before she got teeth.
With four sisters watching over him and four younger ones for him to watch over, Aidan spent most of his childhood exhausted.

Aidan and Orla shared a room for quite a while and when Rylee and Payton were born, they had to move in with Aoife who was less than pleased with the new arrangement. No one in the house was more displeased than Aidan, however. He began to rebel a bit, demanding his own room or if that wasn’t completely feasible, at least one that held only one sister. Luckily, Patrick took Aidan’s side, though because having his own room (with 9 kids, space was a bit tight) he and Orla moved again into a room with a curtain dividing it to create a sense of privacy.

Contrary to popular belief, Aidan is in no way a Nancy boy. If anything, his eight sisters gave him a tougher outlook than a brother would have. Aside from that, he and his father shared a common bond and were quite close. They worked the farm together, Aidan doing the easier things seeing as he was a bit young, but it was still more than any city lad had done at any given age.

Patrick trained Aidan in footie and rugby and often stood up for his son when the lasses ganged up on him. By extension, Orla was let in on this simply because the two were often paired together. The only place Orla wasn’t allowed that Aidan was, was the tractor. That was only because Patrick wouldn’t have any daughter of his on a piece of equipment. It wasn’t proper.

Aidan and Patrick shared more than just a Y chromosome and a love of sports. Patrick, aside from being a farmer was also quite the crooner. He had a sweet high tenor voice which had won his wife’s heart. Aiden had inherited this talent, only his voice turned into a deep baritone which had a rich full sound and could just about break a heart. The pair often serenaded the women in their lives over tea and cake. They were just as often joined by Siobhan on the fiddle and even Orla jumped in to sing a tune on high soprano against Aidan’s deep bass. She didn’t have as sweet a voice, but their second nature when it came to each other was showcased when they sang. It was the same second nature as the one that got them out of so much trouble. They had alibis formed with a single glance, not a word needing to be said between them. They very rarely fought and usually only when Aidan was trying to keep her from getting hurt. While all the Kiely children were close, Aidan was by far closest to Orla and vice versa. They knew every little thing about the other and were constantly getting each other out of tight spots.

However, it turned out that there was a bit more different about the pair than really met the eye. Not only did they have a freaky sixth sense with each other, but strange things were always happening to them that no one could explain. Like the time Aidan fell 25 feet out of an oak tree and was only a bit cut up. Or the time at their grandmum’s house when they’d fallen into the pond and their clothes dried very nearly instantly.

Explanations started arriving on their 11th birthday, however. In the form of a letter, written on parchment, delivered by an owl. The letter, aside from being quite informative itself, also promised a visitor to answer questions and further explain the two middle children of the Kiely household at the most convenient time for Patrick and Beatrice.
The letter clearly stated that Aidan and Orla were much more different than they could’ve imagined. It said that they were magic and destined to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unable to believe it, Patrick tried to ignore the letter entirely.
Unfortunately, more letters arrived, urging a response until Patrick was forced to give in and write back with a date and time.

At exactly the time that Patrick gave, a knock came at the front door. When Beatrice answered she was met with a kindly looking gentleman who had a long, flowing, silver beard and half-moon spectacles standing there in a most ridiculous looking outfit. The gentleman introduced himself as Albus Dumbledore and Beatrice was left with no option except to invite him in for a spot of tea.

After loads of questions, delicious tea and cakes and a sort of forced politeness that seemed ready to snap at any given moment, it was confirmed that this Dumble-whoever was telling the truth and the twins would be off to school in Scotland in the fall. Beatrice worried greatly about finances, however Dumbledore assured her that if she could manage books and supplies for the pair of them, then everything else would be taken care of.

The sisters, however, were not so quick to accept the truth about their siblings. Why weren’t they magic too? Why were they to be left behind? The matter was quickly settled by a simple glance from Patrick and a few words to the effect of that he would lose no more children to Scotland and from then on, anyone who said a word on the subject was swiftly dealt with. Eventually, the sisters fully came ‘round and when it was time for goodbyes, they all demanded personal letters at least once a month.

On September the first, 1970, Beatrice rode with Aidan and Orla to Kings Cross station. She helped them figure out how to get onto platform 9 ¾, and looked quite worried as they both boarded the scarlet steam engine. Both twins were quite nervous about this new adventure and agreed that they were to stick together no matter what.

They found an empty compartment to themselves and sat in silence for a few minutes before two more joined them. Apparently, their new visitors were from Wizarding families, and were shocked to find out that the Kiely twins were so naïve in the ways of the Wizarding world.
By the end of the train ride, Aidan was a bit more nervous than he was comfortable admitting and Orla, he could tell, was pretty bad off herself. They got into a rickety looking rowboat as instructed by the giant of a man, and gasped in shock when it started moving of it’s own accord. The ride was shaky and Aidan reached out a comforting hand to his sister who looked like she was going to be sick or summat.

They finally reached the massive castle and were led into an enormous hall full of people looking at them. Much to the shock of the rest of the group that surrounded them, a tattered looking hat sang a catchy little tune. Aidan watched anxiously to see how they were to be sorted into the houses that the other students kept talking about.

When it was his turn to try on the hat, he heard a voice that seemed to be coming from his own head rather than the hat. It was talking about bravery and chivalry, but quickly changed it’s mind because of something to do with loyalty and a hard working constitution. He could hear Hufflepuff shouted in the Great Hall and nearly dazed, found his way over to his new table. He watched on the edge of his seat as Orla took her turn. If the pair of them were separated, he didn’t know what he’d do. How would he keep a watch on her if they weren’t in the same house like? From what it sounded like, your house was your family, and seeing as Orla really was his family, shouldn’t she end up in the same house?

After what felt like an unusually long time, Hufflepuff was shouted once more and Aidan could breath freely again as his sister came to join him at the table. The worst, it had seemed, was over.

Over the next few years, Aidan and Orla found their own circles of friends. Aidan found his own social niche and fit in quite brilliantly. However, the twins always found time for each other when it was most needed, and even spent quite a bit of time together.

Quick to want to dive in to wizarding culture, Aidan began his study of Quidditch nearly as soon as he realized it was the sport of choice. He was, after all, quite skilled in footie and rugby. Why not this Quidditch business too? At first year flying lessons, he took rather brilliantly to the air and later on, when tested with a snitch, showed a naturalism for quickness.

Aidan’s third year he was made starting seeker for the Hufflepuff team and was quite excited to tell his Da. There wasn’t much at school that his father could really comprehend, but sports…sports were fairly universal.

As the years passed by, Aidan turned into quite the looker. Unfortunately, for him, so did Orla. She was being followed by loads of blokes, none of which were he comfortable with and he began to make it his sole mission in life to keep his sister as innocent as he possibly could. She was just a farm girl after all. Besides, it was his job as the older brother type, he figured.

Now in their sixth year, Aidan and Orla are still very close and he’s just as much of an overprotective brother as he always was. They still have their sixth sense with each other and manage to cause a bit of mischief in the school. Not enough to get them into trouble, just enough to keep them entertained.
